Meet the Professionals
Barney Puttick
Barney turned professional in 1979 and became assistant pro to Ian Connelly, Nick Faldo's original coach, at Dyrham Park Golf Club. Having completed his PGA training, he enjoyed several years of playing full-time, competing in PGA events on both a local and national scale, as well as taking part in some European Tour events, and attempting to qualify for the US Open.
He finished playing full time in 1987 and became the Head Professional at Ramset Golf Club, subsequently moved to Harpenden Common and then to Metro Golf Centre. To this day Barney has given over 35,000 lessons and claims the highlight of his career to date was winning the Hertfordshire PGA Assistants and Order of Merit in one year. He also became the South of England's Under 25 Champion and after that competed in events in France, Spain and Italy.
In 2006, Barney was voted into the UK Top 25 Golf Coaches. He has also been one of the Golf Monthly magazine teaching panellists since 2003, and is heavily involved with coaching young talented golfers in Hertfordshire through local clubs.

Overall, his approach to all his pupils, whether they are just starting out or a professional, an individual or a corporate group, is holistic - aiming to work with a person's natural ability and adding golf knowledge, improved technique, physical condition and psychology allowing the pupil to be a better golfer.
