Our Philosophy
The teaching professionals at the Palmerston Golf Academy do not subscribe to method teaching. They work with each individual golfer to optimise his or her ability while observing their limitations.
One of the Academy's professionals, short game guru Barney Puttick, sums up the philosophy when he says "I always try to work with the individual player and with what they have, rather than being a method teacher. To me a swing is like a finger print and is unique to the individual. We only have to observe the top players to see the different styles, for instance between Luke Donald and Graham McDowell. By using positive swing drills and muscle memory techniques, each player can improve his or her understanding of the game and ultimately his or her enjoyment."
Facilities and Services
The Brocket Hall Estate is proud to play host to the Palmerston Golf Academy, and in turn provide some of the best instructional and practice facilities in the UK.
The Academy incorporates a state-of-the art indoor school supported by a V1 Swing Analysis computer, the newest Flight Scope Launch Monitor and the Titleist Sure Fitting Centre. Housed in a dedicated indoor school, these components are at the epicentre of the teaching experience.
Across the lawn, golfers will find a long game zone with driving range, a short game chipping and bunker zone, and a large putting green. The outdoor amenities are made complete with a 7-hole par 3 course nestled in the woods above - ideal for improving skills and all aspects of a player's performance - with instructional boards on every tee offering strategic advice on how to play each hole.
